1.00 1990-08-06
■ Changed version number to 1.00.
This is to show that this program is now at a level where
it can be called acceptable. From here it's just fixing minor
flaws and if something very new Big appears then it's time for
version 2.00 :-)
■ Added support for external utils Like Shez, QEdit, DP.
You can specify three different external viewer. Archive, Text
and Binary viewers. Also added A DOSShell function from inside
the editor. Note ... to be able to get room for these utils
and the dosshell the Files.Bbs that is loaded in the editor
will be saved to disk and loaded out of memory. It will when
you have finished the shell reload from disk. It is YOUR
responsibillity NOT to tamper with the Files.Bbs when in shell
from FEBBS. I can guarantee that FEBBS doesn't like that at all!!
Also observe that if you have just performed a Hurl and not yet
placed the descriptions and you make a shell you will get less
memory for the shell than if you place the descriptions before.
This is because Febbs have to store these descriptions in memory
so that you later on can place them.
So take make it a habbit of placing the descriptions before
you shell to avoid any problems that might occour.
■ Re done the memory manegment totaly in Febbs. This to enable the
the functions of External support programs.
■ Enlarged the allowed length of the areadescription so that the
maximus header wouldn't get chopped of..
■ Moved "Adopt Files" inside the editor instead of havaing it
in the main menu. That way i was able to cut down on keystrokes
before you where able to edit your areas.
■ The Last Time !!. Now is the last time that you will have to
Delete FEBBS.CTL when upgrading to a new Version.
Redone the whole setup part so now the setup file is 4Kb
in size and containing a lot of "air". So when implementing new
functions that needs to be set up i just use the "air".
■ If, when hurling Files, a file already exists in the area that
You are hurling to and You choose to overwrite it then the
description will NOT be transfered to the new area.
Reason: To prevent dupe entries in Files.Bbs.
I simply assumes that you already have the correct description
in the area you are hurling to because you are mostly hurling
from your Upload directory.
This means that if all the tagged Files existed in the area you
choose to hurl to then you will not be transfered to that area.
■ Febbs is now Mouse Aware. That is if You have got a mouse then
you can use while moving around in FEBBS. The left Button is the
same as "Enter" and the Right is the same as "Escape"
■ Added Area Number in the ChooseFileArea selectlist.
When Choose Area window is active it is now possible to "hotkey"
to a certain area by entering its number and pressing Enter.
■ When using the del key at the end of a line, the line below will
now be only partialy moved up if not the whole line fits
in the space that is left in the above line.
Confused :-) Try it !
■ Tab now moves the current line to position 32, and if the line
is to long to fit it will be wrapped. This only applies to
lines with descriptions. If Tab is pressed on a line that is
a "File entry" then nothing will happen.
■ If in aXa mode the @Z ( Zoom ) lines in files.bbs will Not
be shown in the filelist.
Also Fixed so that Ctrl-D ( Remove missing files from Files.Bbs )
will Not remove the @Z lines in Files.Bbs.
■ If in Maximus/aXa mode when creating a filelist Febbs vill
scan for Avatar codes and skip those in the Filelist.
■ Added ability to create your daily filelists. Both Total and News
list. Can be run in Batch mode. News List Start with "N" on the
command line and Full list with "F". Or why not both "FEBBS N F".
If a file called FEBBHEAD.TXT is present in the same directory
as Febbs then that one will be used as header in the lists.
The fileareas to include in the filelist is chosen in the setup.
When Creating a total list two other lists will aslo be created.
A filearea overview list and a list containing the directories
of the areas. That is a list that can be used by your mailer as
a list of Frequable Directories. If you got a directory that you
wish to be frequable but not in the filelist simply create a file
called FEBBOK.TXT containing that directory ( or directories ).
That list will at runtime be added to the directory list just like
the header in the Filelist.
■ Original Alt-F Function Removed. Alt-F now displays Contents
of the file on current line. Try it and you'll understand what
i mean.
■ Added support for Axa.
■ Move tagged lines inside Editor. Tag the lines you want to
move. Position yourself at the spot where you want 'em and
press F4. Viola !
■ Added Choose Colour option to Febbs. Note that you must enter
The Save Setup part in order to make the Colour changes take
place in all of Febbs.
■ Added Tag and hurl of Files and descriptions.
■ Alt-R, Remove Line and if line is a Filedescription you will
be asced if you wish to delete the file also. Like Ctrl-Y but
deletes the file as well.
■ Alt-W, Sort a marked block. Press Alt-W. Size the highlighted
Block with the arrowkeys. Press Enter to sort marked block.
Escape to exit sort routine.
■ If you choose " F2 -Save " inside the editor you are no longer
returned to the main menu. This to let you save as you edit
instead once when your done.
■ Added automatic deletion of files in Files.Bbs that doesn't exist
in the directory. Just press Ctrl-D from inside the editor and
the area loaded in the editor will be scanned and a message will
be displayed telling you that either files where deleted from
list or files where NOT deleted from list.

■ Added automatic CRC check of the EXE-file upon execution of
program. Any changes to the code will immidiatly be discovered
and an error message will be displayed. This to prevent you
from viruses and illigeal hacks of this program.
>>> Note ! This will NOT allow you to Pack this program with
LZEXE the Exepacker.
■ Added option to let FEBBS save backup files of FILES.BBS
when saving. The backup files are called FILES.BAK.
Suggested by Anders Brink.
■ Febbs can now be started from anywhere and still find its
control file, FEBBS.CTL, just as long as the control file
resides in the same place as FEBBS.EXE. This only applies
to Dos version >= 3.10. If you have a version < 3.10 then
you have to run FEBBS from the same directory as its controlfile.
Suggested by Anders Brink.
■ Added Option to Copy or Move files and descriptions
Between Areas.
Suggested by several users.
■ Enlarged the Choose Area Window to get a better look over wich
areas you have.
Suggested by Anders Brink.
■ Added option to add GIF Info to description of GIF file from inside
the editor.
■ Redesigned the menus to cut down on keystrokes.
Suggested by Anders Brink.
■ Added Maximus BBS support.
Suggested by Anders Brink.
■ Re structured the whole setup part. Now you choose to save once
instead of after every edited setup part. Also checked that all
the variables got set correctly when you save. I never had any
trouble with this but a user of mine had.
Reported by Christer Andersson.
■ Realised that Febbs added a blank line at the end of the edited
Files.Bbs when saving it. If you for example edited a certain
Files.Bbs 10 times in a row it would have 10 extra blank lines
at the end. This is now Fixed.
■ The Editor now starts in INSERT mode.
■ Added posibillity to Copy a line of text inside the editor.
Thus allowing to copy descriptions of files. Also added the
possibility to move a line inside the editor. Nice if you want
to move an adopted file to a different location within Files.Bbs
Suggested by Robert Maierhofer.
■ Enhanced the editor regarding deleting of chararcters and line wrap-
around. If you delete the last character in a line the next line
will now be automagicaly moved up one line. Also fixed the "Enter"
keys behavior in INSert mode. Now works as it should.
■ The Cursor bar when choosing area wouldn't stick to the 3 first
areas and went to the 1st instead.
Reported by Bob Sprenger.
■ Fixed problem when Files.Ra was not found. With som force you could
trick FEBBS to think that Files.Ra already had been read alltough i
hadn't. With som Funny (?) results.
■ Changed Method of reading Files.Ra. That part is now twice as fast.
■ Changed som cosmetic stuff during area select. Mostly for people
with less than 10 Areas.

■ GIF resoloution now added when adopting files.
■ Removed blanks after entering path to RA. Could cause trouble
if you added a lot of blanks after the path.
■ A box on the mainscreen now show witch area you have choosen.
■ If you from inside the editor choose Alt-F to look inside an
archive and the choosen file is a valid GIF file you will see
info about the GIF instead.
■ If no valid files where to be found in a area and you choose
Alt-D or Alt-F to either delete or look inside a file your
machine would hang

cursor left.
■ Added Insert status on the editor screen.
